This has got to be the darkest day of my Internet Marketing career. Google just rollout their latest update which targets webspam and spinning of article. Alot of my sites are hit and alot of keywords drop from page 1. It seems many others share the same experience.

Imagine that you are searching the internet for a topic. Then you put the interesting article on your own website. You are linking the article to your own website. Since you visited the site where the article was originally displayed, then your own site is the backlink source. This is how backlinks are created.
All the links from other websites that are directed to your own site are called SEO backlinks. You can determine how many websites are directed to your own website using Google. Try searching your own URL using google search. Do you see alot of results displayed? Some of these result are not from your own website. These results are basically backlinks to your site.
The more of such results you have, the better it is for your website. Search engines make use of backlinks to determine if your website is important. The more other websites refer to your site, the higher in rank search engine will place you on their search result. Now, how does getting a high search engine rank help your company? Well you get more visitors to your website which in turns may result in more sales? That’s wonderful isn’t it? This is why you need to constantly build backlinks. Remember the more the merrier
